“It’s not those who left that come back.” — In Everybody Grieves Differently, Sándor Jászberényi writes of the wars that never end — the ones carried home in silence. Through spare, piercing stories, he reveals what remains when the fighting stops and the defeated are left to live with the echoes.
The English edition appears in the author’s own translation, with several stories translated by Diana Senechal. The majority of the work was translated by Sándor in close collaboration with copy editor Andrew McClellan, whose careful editorial eye helped shape the final text.
